SOPHIE

Sophie (she/they) is so happy to become a part of the PlayArts team as an Afterschool Arts Teacher. They graduated from the University of Vermont in 2024 with a Bachelors in Elementary Education and an endorsement in Special Education. After being a lifelong New Jersey resident, she made the move to Philadelphia over a year ago and absolutely loves it. She also works for the Philadelphia Museum of Art as a Program Assistant and is excited to bring her skills, presence, and teaching abilities to the program. 

Sophie has been interested in teaching and art ever since they can remember. They love seeing the passion that art ignites in children and strives to foster a positive and accepting environment for every student they work with. She is passionate about helping students find their creative voices and wants to see students succeed as their best selves. Outside of work, she loves to draw, paint, play video games, be outdoors, practice yoga, and spend time with friends and loved ones. They are so thrilled to start this next chapter of their teaching journey at PlayArts!
