Job Summary:
PlayArts is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our After School Program Staff. As an ASP Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing arts and enrichment programming to children in Northeast Philadelphia. Salary: $19.00-$23 per hour

Schedule:

• Part-Time / In-Person

• Monday to Friday from 2:30-6:00 PM, (August thru June) based on the School District of Philadelphia (SDP) academic calendar

• Weekly meetings on Mondays 1:30-3:00pm

• Mandatory Staff Orientation will occur one week prior to the first day of school.

• Total regular hours: ~18-22 hours / week

• Additional paid planning time may be available

Duties:

• Consistent attendance and prompt communication

• Engage positively with students and create a welcoming atmosphere

• Implement art activities and programs (theater, music, dance, visual arts, STEAM, etc.)

• Active supervision over passive monitoring

• Support classroom management and ensure a safe learning environment

• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall educational experience

• Receptiveness to coaching

• Contribute to the development of creative and engaging curriculum

• Provide assistance during events and activities as needed

• Initiative, flexibility, and responsiveness

Experience:

• At least 2 years childcare experience required

• Proficiency in classroom management techniques

• First aid certification is a plus

• Prior experience in early elementary education or related fields is preferred

• Experience working with children or students in educational settings

• Familiarity with after school environments

• Must be at least 18 years old

Role Requirements:

• AAS in Early Childhood Education preferred

• BA in Early Childhood Education, Education, or like field preferred, but not required with appropriate experience

• Will have to obtain or provide State clearances, FBI fingerprints, and background checks *prior to start date

• Will have to obtain or provide Mandated reporter training and TWO letters of references

• Some clearances and certifications are eligible for reimbursement after 90-days of successful employment.

• Arts or Education degrees preferred. Without an education-related degree, the following credits and experience is required:

(1)  A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate and 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field.

    (2)  A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate, including 600 or more hours of secondary training described in §  3270.31(c) (relating to age and training).

    (3)  A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate, 15 credit hours from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 1 year of experience with children.

    (4)  A high school diploma or a general education development certificate and completion of a post-secondary training curriculum described in §  3270.31(c).

    (5)  A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate and 2 years experience with children (babysitting, camp counseling) or teaching experience is required.

EDUCATION LEVEL:

• BA preferred, but not required with appropriate experience

• Must possess a GED or High School Equivalent Diploma
