Emmanuel (They/He) is an artist from Philadelphia. Their primary medium for creating art is photography, but they also draw, paint, and write. The expression of emotion is deeply rooted in their artistic practice, as they believe art can help people express themselves in a way that cannot be spoken, especially children, who may not have all the words to explain big feelings. Emmanuel has been building experience in childhood art education (K-8) since the moment they became old enough to do so, and babysitting for their little sister, and family friends, for even longer. 

Their main goal as a teacher is to make sure everyone is engaged in the lesson, especially those who struggle to focus in a classroom setting. Coming from a family of neurodivergent individuals, they have learned it is incredibly important to be sure that the needs of similarly-minded students are met, and that these students have just as much of an enjoyable, educational experience during class as everyone else. They want every student to leave their class having created something they are truly proud of. 

When they’re not teaching, Emmanuel can be found creating elaborate photoshoots, seeing live music, and perusing local thrift stores. They are absolutely thrilled to be teaching at PlayArts, and cannot wait to encourage the next generation of artists to blossom.
