Evalina "Wally" Carbonell
Evalina Carbonell, known affectionately as “Wally,” is a Philadelphia-based dance artist. A passionate performer, creator, and teacher, she received her early training at the National Ballet School in Maryland. She went on to earn her BFA in Dance from Florida State University. Upon graduation, Evalina joined the Roxey Ballet Company, dancing as a principal artist from 2005-2011. In 2012, Evalina joined the internationally active, Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers. In addition to her work with KYL/D, she works nationally and locally, choreographing and presenting her own work, performing as a guest artist, and teaching dance, Gyrotonic, and Gyrokinesis. As the mother of a soon-to-be two-year old daughter and a baby boy due-to-be-born in November, Evalina enjoys moving and dancing with little ones as she furthers her movement explorations. She is thrilled to join the teaching staff at PlayArts this fall, and to share her holistic and fun-filled perspective on dance with her own community of Philadelphia parents and toddlers.
